Ergonomic and intuitive straight stairlift for indoor or outdoor use

Easy to use comfort

savaria + handicare

This slimline aluminum track has a hidden rack with two park points as standard so the battery can be charged at the top or bottom of the stairs. It can also be supplied with a powered hinge to prevent the track obscuring a doorway at the base of the stairs.

The Handicare 1000 straight stairlift comes as standard with a (manual) fold away footrest, seat and arms meaning the lift takes up less room when not in use, allowing more space for other stair users.

The Smart Seat delivers a choice of upholstery colours and optional powered features to turn the seat at the top of the staircase or fold the footrest after use.

    How to use this stairlift

  • The Handicare 1000 boasts our heaviest weight capacity:

    • the 1000 137 kg
    • the 1000XL 160 kg
    • the XXL 200 kg

Both the XL and the XXL are supplied with additional arm spacers to increase the distance between the arms.

  • In order for the seat to get low enough for the user to sit on, it is necessary for the track to extend beyond the staircase to the lower floor level. Or in some cases, there may be a doorway close to the bottom of the stairs and the track may intrude across this. In these circumstances a hinged track should be installed. This means that the track can be folded away from the doorway giving clear access.

Outdoor

The 1000 Outdoor stairlift is fully weatherproofed and designed to overcome the problems caused by outdoor straight stairs.

The Handicare 1000 series features a slim and unobtrusive aluminium rail with no visible rack and like all our stairlifts, the outdoor model has a key switch to prevent unauthorised use of the lift, which means it can be isolated when not in use.

Supplied with UV stable slate grey upholstery and anti-slip footrest, the Handicare 1000 outdoor stairlift also comes with a waterproof cover to keep it protected from the weather so it is always ready for use.

Smart Seat

A sturdy and resilient seat which can be supplied with optional powered features to remove the need for bending to fold a footrest or turning to swivel the seat when getting on or off the stairlift upstairs.

OPTIONS

  • When you arrive at the top of the stairs, you will need to swivel your seat around so that you exit onto the landing safely. All our stairlifts come with a manual swivel that is operated from a handle located at either side of the seat.

Choosing a powered swivel option removes the need to you to operate the lever and turn the seat: simply continue to hold the toggle in the direction of travel when you arrive at the top of the rail and the seat will automatically turn to face the landing.

  • In order to maximize free space, all our stairlifts have seats, footrests and arms that are designed to be manually folded up out of the way when not in use, allowing clear access for other stair users.

You can also choose the powered footrest option that will remove the need to bend down to fold or unfold the footplate. You can choose to have a footrest that folds up automatically when the seat is also folded up, or choose a footrest that is operated separately from a switch on the arm so you can raise and lower it while seated.

  • Available in three sizes, our body harnesses are specifically designed for stairlift users who may require further stability when travelling up and down. Thanks to its contoured design, the harness is comfortable to wear with adjustable straps that help tailor it to specific needs.

Perch Seat

If you have restricted movement in the knee or hip joints you may find sitting painful. In these situations, a Perch seat may be the best solution for you.

A Perch seat means the user is almost in a standing position when they are using the lift. There is a shortened seat (and retractable seat belt) which provides a stable support area for users to ‘perch’ on. This means that Perch Seats may also provide a solution for particularly narrow staircases where a user would not have room to travel in a seated position.
