    How to use this stairlift

  • In order for the seat to get low enough for the user to sit on, it is necessary for the track to extend beyond the staircase to the lower floor level. Or in some cases, there may be a doorway close to the bottom of the stairs and the track may intrude across this. In these circumstances a hinged track should be installed. This means that the track can be folded away from the doorway giving clear access.

Curved stairlifts can be supplied with a powered hinged track that extends when you go downstairs and folds up when you go upstairs or want to park the lift out of the way, allowing clear access on the lower level.

Elegance Seat

The Elegance offers a lightly padded, faux leather seat that delivers both comfort and style with the benefit of being durable and easy to clean.

This seat can be supplied on our single rail curved system with a choice of two seat positions. The standard position with your back to the wall or our downward facing seat positioned at 45° to the wall. This seat comes with a specially designed footrest which means that this seat configuration can be used to provide a solution for particularly narrow curved staircases.

The Elegance seat can be combined with a hinge or drop nose track making it suitable for use in hallways where a door is close to the bottom of the stairs.

The Elegance seat offers our highest level of cushioning, combining elegant design with refined comfort and a luxurious feel thanks to its super soft upholstery, it is available in three colours each with a cream retractable seatbelt.

The upholstery’s protective layer means that the stairlift seat is both durable and easy to clean. The armrests can be adjusted outwards to create a wider seat.

It can also be upgraded to add our patented Active Seat which provide additional support when sitting or standing.

Maximum capacity with Elegance Seat with Hinged rail 125 kg.

OPTIONS

  • When you arrive at the top of the stairs, you will need to swivel your seat around so that you exit onto the landing safely. All our stairlifts come with a manual swivel that is operated from a handle located at either side of the seat.

Choosing a powered swivel option removes the need to you to operate the lever and turn the seat: simply continue to hold the toggle in the direction of travel when you arrive at the top of the rail and the seat will automatically turn to face the landing.

  • The Two-way Powered Swivel has been specially developed to help those customers who have a very narrow curved staircase. Once seated, your seat will turn automatically so that your back faces the stairs, not the wall or handrail, during travel and thereby move your knees away from clashes with the wall or bannister. It can also be used to help those who have difficulty bending their knees to fit into the available stair width. At the top of the stairs, the seat will turn back to face the landing for a safe and comfortable exit from your lift.

  • This unique and patented development provides assistance for those users who would like some additional support when getting on or off the stairlift.

It can also provide a greater sense of security when sitting down as the seat can be felt directly behind you.

    Standing Up

The Active Seat lever is next to the seat; when seated you simply lift it up to activate the seat. Using the arm rests for additional stability, you will benefit from a gentle boost as you rise to the standing position.

The Active Seat will then remain in an upward position ready to assist when you sit down again.

    Sitting Down

Using the arm rests for additional stability, sit down as normal, the seat will give you extra support so you can sit in a gentle and controlled manner.

Healthcare professionals are really enthusiastic about the easy to use Active Seat which can also improve carer assisted transfers by reducing the physical assistance required to support the sitting or standing action.

The Active Seat puts you in control because you can choose when to use it. This makes it ideal for conditions where physical ability varies on a day to day basis as it is on hand to provide help as needed.

  • In order to maximize free space, all our stairlifts have seats, footrests and arms that are designed to be manually folded up out of the way when not in use, allowing clear access for other stair users.

You can also choose the powered footrest option that will remove the need to bend down to fold or unfold the footplate. You can choose to have a footrest that folds up automatically when the seat is also folded up, or choose a footrest that is operated separately from a switch on the arm so you can raise and lower it while seated.

  • Thanks to the powered and illuminated footrest, you don’t have to bend down to fold it up. At the press of a button, the footrest automatically folds up or down whilst you remain seated. The footrest is also illuminated when it is folded down, which makes it easy to see in the dark. This means there is no danger of others tripping over it at night or in low light conditions.

The powered and illuminated footrest is available for the Alliance, Elegance and Classic seats.

Alliance Seat

The Alliance’s retro styling brings a classic yet contemporary feel to your stairlift. Its combination of real wood and a choice of three leather look cushioned upholstery options means you can customise your stairlift to perfectly complement your décor and rail colour which is also available in a choice of three standard colours.

Compatible with our single trail curved system, the Alliance can be combined with our Drop nose or market leading curved hinged rail making it suited for use in homes with restricted hallway space. The seat, arms and footrest all fold up neatly to leave as much space free for other stair users if required.
